I need help on this (mastiff puppie)?

My neighbor shows and breeds English Mastiffs. She has been involved in the breed for the past 25 years and takes great care in whom she places her puppies with. Since I use to work on her farm and helped her out, she told me if I was ever interested in a MALE puppy, she would sell him to me at the discounted price of... $850! She refuses to place intact females to anyone and when she does place the SPAYED female, they still do not come cheap. She sells her puppies in the range of $1400-2200 depending on if they have a show contract or not. Hers are calm and caring but they are definitely protective when strangers enter her property. There is nothing scarier then a dog that clearly outweighs you is standing there staring you down and growling. They are not a breed for everyone and without proper training, can easily become a tyrant. Maybe you should go to your local pound or shelter instead. They normally have wonderful dogs and you would be able to afford one as the adoption price shouldn't be more then $300.
