Why does DIFFUSION occur?

The other guy is right about diffusion and molecules in a constant state of motion etc, which is why diffusion occurs. In addition this, it needs to be stated that process of diffusion creates a heterogeneous environment, that is a high concentration of molecules will diffuse into an area of low concentration until the concentration in all regions is the same.
